What dynamic contact angle measurements can tell you?
Wettability of a surface isn't fully captured by a single static contact angle value. A given surface can show a range of static contact angles, and dynamic measurements — advancing and receding angles, and the hysteresis between them — reveal that range.
This session looks at what dynamic contact angle data can tell you about a surface, and how automated needle and tilting methods make it fast and easy to generate reliable results. We'll cover what contact angle hysteresis and roll-off angle reveal about surface quality and homogeneity, and how dynamic measurements help characterize wettability for applications ranging from coatings, cleaning validation, and textiles to smart and superhydrophobic/-oleophobic surfaces.

Key takeaways:
- What advancing and receding contact angle values, hysteresis, and roll-off angle reveal about a surface that static contact angle cannot
- How surface roughness, heterogeneity, and contamination show up in contact angle data
- How automated needle and tilting methods deliver reliable dynamic contact angle results quickly
- How to apply dynamic contact angle data to real-world questions around wettability, coatings, surface treatments, and advanced functional surfaces
