Polyelectrolyte multilayers are versatile and attractive in biomedical applications in the design of for example biocompatible coatings and material with drug release capabilities. To be able to tailor the properties and functionality of the PEM, it is important to assess and understand the conformation and layer structure. In this application note we show how PEM build-up and crosslinking can be characterized with QCM-D.
