Reliable QCM-D data with QSense Core One

Reliable QCM-D (Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation monitoring) measurements depend on the ability to distinguish real surface processes from measurement noise, drift, and experimental artefacts. This is especially important when studying small mass changes, slow adsorption kinetics, low surface coverage, thin films, dilute samples, or multi-step experiments.

In this technology note, QCM-D data quality is explained and evaluated using a measurement polyelectrolyte multilayer build-up.

In this technology note:

QCM-D data quality has been evaluated under realistic measurement conditions. The note includes:

  • an overview of the key aspects of QCM-D data quality
  • evaluation of small-signal resolution, long-term stability, and steady-state noise
  • explanation of how built-in checks support reliable measurements
  • discussion of what better data quality enables for demanding QCM-D applications
