QCM-D in drug formulation and storage

- Identify conditions that minimize protein-surface interaction

Proteins tend to interact with surfaces and doing so they can adsorb and unfold. Therefore, it can be relevant to identify conditions that minimize the protein adsorption. One way to do this assessment is to study protein interaction with various surface materials, at different conditions, with QCM-D.

In this case study, protein adsorption at various conditions has been analyzed and quantified. The note includes protein-surface interaction results for:  Protein adsorption in drug formulation and storage
  • various surface material, e.g. PS and silicone oil
  • different protein concentrations
  • samples with and without surfactant
